Bad News for The Good News' Bad News Junkies

Here's a crisis for Spanky and the GN team to unite in guttural moans over:

The world's oldest and biggest insurance market said that though the lack of major disasters had allowed firms to push up profits 5% in 2007, underwriting margins were being squeezed...

Oh dear oh dear! What will poor old Ronnie Weinland make of this?

Dennis Diehl, longtime watcher of world news and prophecy, has donned sackcloth and composed a commentary thereon... not to be missed!

Not to put too fine a point on it, Lloyd's of London probably doesn't insure the rank and file in the United States, but favors the rich and famous, including, but not restricted to, major corporations, particularly those based in the United Kingdom.

It should be noted that the past few years have not been so kind for those in the United States that Lloyd's of London would not insure.

In the United States over the past few years, there have been a series of Hurricanes, forest fires, record amounts of snow, flooding and tornadoes.

Scientists are concerned that Mount Rainier could go up any day now, not to mention one of the greatest potential supervolcanoes ever, Yellowstone Park. When Yellowstone blows, it won't be just Old Faithful. The last eruption millions of years ago were throwing hot rocks in the vicinity of what is now Kansas City.

Of course, all of these and other natural disasters play into the Armstrongists who have been predicting the end of the age for some time now and continue to do so, in spite of "In Jesus' Name" Herbert Armstrong utterly failing on 1943 and 1975. Best 1 out of three, perhaps? Unfortunately, in spite of the failures, the razing factory of fate will continue to spew forth the continued false prophecies learned at Ambassador College over four decades ago, primarily because the ministers only know what they were taught and don't know anything else.

There is also the specter of Global Warming, an inconvenient truth for everyone but the doomsday sayers. This pales into insignificance in the ultimate Global Cooling which will be much more severe in the long term.

More pressing than these pending disasters, is the coming shortage of Gallium, indium and hafnium. Dr. Reller gives us until approximately 2017 at which time, they will all be used up. If that's not bad enough, the extinction of zinc is somewhere around 2037.

When they are gone, they are gone.

Plan your death accordingly, particularly if you live to watch your flat screen television or PC Monitor.

"Global Warming?" Oops! Well, I supposed it is not surprising that you have swallowed the pseudo scientific, religious, theory of Global Warming, hook line and sinker; even though you are unable to verify the science that is supposed to underpin the theory. Have you forgotten the admonition, "prove all things?"

In the USA, Al Gore, of course, has been ordained high priest of this new, false religion, which you have bought into. Are you sending tithes and offerings to his HQ, so that he can more effectively spread the word?

So after leaving WCG, proclaiming your newly found freedom, you have been ensnared in the religions of Global Warming and The Psychology of Incompetence and Dysfunction, without the ability to prove that any of them are true. Talk about jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!

Are you beginning to see how irrational people become, when they reject the truth and attack God's servants?

I'm not the only one who is thinking that when the Ron Weinland end does not come, it will be because of so much "repenting" that God has spared us.

Also, AW does not refer to Weinland as "Mr." Weinland. To follow through with that train of thought should we go cap. R or small r for Ron or ron. Weinland or weinland?

I'll still go R and W due to it's proper english, but "Mr." is not required.

I still like Joe Tkatch's statement that he knows exactly when Jesus will return and that is at a time that you think not. ( That's Joe Sr.)

So could be all the end time gloom and doom have it wrong. Could be today or 250 years from now.

And who controls the weather, and prophesied that there will be earthquakes in divers places?

Scripture says that Satan has the power of the air, so one must conclude that as god of this world, Satan controls the weather. Just who was it that destroyed Job's children by sending "a great wind" from the wilderness? Or that fire from heaven [lightning] that burned up the sheep and the servants?

Again we see a plain and clear lack of being able to discern and rightly divide Scripture. One would expect this from someone with a clear brain dysfunction wherein there are too few and weak connections across the corpus callosum. Such people create communications independently in the two hemispheres in the brain, uncoordinated and isolated in their generation. Upon delivery, the thoughts are disordered and self-contradictory.

Dr. Robert Hare noted this dysfunction in psychopaths he studied: They do not have "normal" brain wave patterns and the scans don't even look human.

All that is required is a lack of conscience, aptly demonstrated, and a lack of empathy, also aptly demonstrated.

Such people are totally wrong-headed and because the brain is damaged, the condition is irreparable. While it is true that the brain often can repair itself under the right conditions, there is another factor: Wrong thinking, evil thinking, does further damage to the brain. There are studies out there with cat scans which demonstrate that every time a person deliberately lies, there is actual physiological damage to the brain. It should also be noted that the possessor of the dysfunctional brain also lies and practices deception, thus continuing to do physiological damage to his own brain and... wrecking his own credibility with the obvious cognitive dissonance declared at the top of his incompetent voice.

While it is true that supernatural healing does seem available [with studies in hospitals again with people either praying or "thinking good thoughts"], such healing does not seem to be available to such angry misdirected pathetic people. They are obsessed with hatred and loathing because they find offense with everyone who does not agree with their ideas and rail against those who do not find them the center of their own Universe of selfishness.

In other words, there's not much that can be done for them: They live in a Universe of distorted perceptions and lies, angry with everyone who does not submit to their nonexistent "authority".

Thus it is, that no one should expect one shred of rationality from such people. They will make up definitions as they go along to support their propositions, no matter how silly they are. They live in a world of pretense.

Now if people think I am referring to a poster here, I am. But more than that, I am also speaking of all the cultmeister false prophets obsessed with disasters. There's no Love of God, the Father. There is no appreciation of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. These are sick people filled with wrath and hatred, wanting revenge and destruction on the whole world, rather than wanting its salvation.

One rejects the projections of respected scientists at their own perils. It's obvious that some people have no knowledge of science and are hereby counseled to buy an education in more or less objective science. At least the experiments are reproducible, unlike the wild-eyed predictions of already failed false prophets. As for it being a false prediction, wouldn't it be wiser to do the projections and wait and see the trends? Of course, when someone says nutty things without one shred of documentation, it's like dividing by zero: It's undefined, and therefore anything is possible. By using that proposition, I can prove 2=1, as can anyone who has taken at least one quarter of college calculus.

As for rejecting the assured prophecies of the Bible, I have not. However, Herbert Armstrong predicting the Great Tribulation and the return of Jesus Christ by 1975 is not among the assured prophecies of the Bible. They are more like this assured prophecy:

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Yes, the Bible predicted that our pompous beast of burden would come. What glorious revelation from our merciful Lord!

Herbert Armstrong was a false prophet. Therefore, he was an apostle of Satan the Devil.

"Bad News for The Good News' Bad News Junkies": The ultimate hypocrisy

There is something very disturbing about the hypocrisy of the Armstrongist purveyers of gloom, doom, devastation, destruction: They claim to be Ambassadors for Christ, the firstfruits of those who will be part of ushering the salvation of this world through the millennium and the second resurrection, while they peddle hatred, racism, conflict, splattered blood, misery, slavery, spewing forth great swelling words of judgment against those who neither have any view of such things nor have a particularly good example from which to draw. The Armstrongists want everyone to suffer as a perverted revenge against imagined oppression, while making it clear that they are the very people against whom the prognostications of the Wrath to Come apply.

One such example is right here on this forum: Someone who wants to see the terrible excruciating pain of those around him based on the now thoroughly failed predictions of Herbert Armstrong, while avoiding any inconveniences himself. He wants revenge on those who point out his lack of evidence and lack of repentance for those things resoundingly condemned in the Scripture he himself perverts, adds to and misquotes.

At the same time, in the grand traditions of the modern day Pharisee, he admits he does not keep the Law: He does not tithe. Herbert Armstrong did not give him the luxury of deciding whether or not he can tithe -- it is an absolute requirement if he is to enter into the Kingdom of God [at least in the eschatology of Herbert Armstrong]. And yet, here he is, admitting he does not and will not tithe. He has an excuse: All those who once followed Herbert Armstrong as his ministers are now hirelings who do not deserve tithes. Just at what time was that never true, do pray tell: For Herbert Armstrong himself was an hireling from the very beginning -- later turning out to be prodigal in the extreme.

This is unbelievable anachronistic hypocrisy: Claiming all those who defy the memory of Herbert Armstrong are doomed, while he himself defies Herbert Armstrong. It also isn't clear if this person actually ever tithed, even when Herbert Armstrong was present. Just a guess: Probably not. Of course, if he did, he could always post all his receipts online for proof -- not that we would believe them, for he would probably copy one and doctor the rest: That's just the sort of person we've come to see here.

Now let us set aside the issue that Scripture nowhere talks of tithing wages: It was always about produce. It also was not always about 10% either -- Note Leviticus 19:23-25. One would not expect an unconverted Biblical illiterate hypocrite to understand.

To the topic at hand: Woe be to those looking to the Day of the Lord! For that matter, woe be to those who call good evil and evil good.

The died in the wool Armstrongists must see people suffer and are actually hoping for some new disaster or other crop up so they can not only be proved right, but have the perverse satisfaction of watching the horrors of people suffering terribly. They get off on it, whether they want to admit it or not. As is pointed out by this title in the forum and others, they are sick junkies, obsessed with human suffering, judging as it were, that the people caught in such terrible things are deserving of the wrath of God.

The Bible paints a picture of God as being kind and whose mercy endures forever. Even as judgments were rendered against the Israelites again and again in the book of Judges, they cried to the Lord and He heard their cry. He took pity upon them as His children, raised up judges to deliver them again and again and again, though they had done evil in His sight and suffered for their sins.

For some evil Armstrongists in particular, their view is that they have salvation and do not care one whit for anyone else but themselves. They take no mercy upon the poor, the fatherless, the widow, the stranger. They look for validation and revenge upon those who do not agree with them. In some cases, it is anonymous victimization where they don't even know the people they wish the destruction upon.

This is very sick. The people who are the "Bad News Junkies" are a perverted lot whose thinking has been turned to rebellion, assault and vicarious enjoyment of pain and suffering of others. They do not seek the good for others. They do not pray for their enemies. [Gutter language alert!] Heck, they don't even do much for those who believe the way they do: The Devil take the hindmost because there can be no one holier than thou.

Petty, small minded, perverse:

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Except, sometimes, they don't even seem that good.

No Lamont, they are not one and the same. Dr. Bob lives in sunny California. Tom lives in an overcast, grubby little neighbourhood on the west side of industrial Birmingham, UK. As Armstrongists they do have a few similarities, they are both HWA wannabees, for instance. But the steady beat of the Tom-tom will never rise to the level of Dr. Bob, much less their long dead hero. At least Dr Bob has half decent looking web site, even if it is filled with drivel. The Tom-tom can't communicate at anywhere near that level. Hell, he can't can't construct a coherent sentence, he can't spell, and he thinks grammar is his dad's old mum. Dr Bob has a university degree, while it would appear the Tom-tom couldn't even pass his O levels. (For those who aren't familiar with the UK school system, passing O levels means you get to work in a factory, passing A levels means you might go to university.)

I am at a loss as to why every time the Tom-tom yanks on someone's chain the blog is filled with outraged responses. If you just ignored him he would soon find some other blog or forum to inflict with his bigotry.

It is ceasingly amazing that Armstrongists in Europe and Britain always seem to discount Global Warming, while the polar ice cap continues melting and polar bears go further and further south in Alaska, disrupting communities.

While the problem may be overblown [or not], the inconvenient truth is that the Armstrongists didn't think of it and the end of the age must come some other way, in their view. That's rather inconvenient concerning the Scripture. In the end, all of the earth will be a cinder, or so says Peter in his epistle -- if it is Peter, which, given Biblical illiterates, it's sort of a 50/50 sort of thing. For those in the know it could be worse.

Ignored in all this is the fact that at one point, the earth will be one big ice ball if everything continues the way it is. As the Earth passes through the Oort Cloud, the sun and moon will be as if covered with sackcloth and rocks will fall from the heavens. It's going to get mighty chilly.

Ignored in all this is the fact that the Bible talks a bit about what are Arabs and their adversarial relationship with Israel up until the end. Armstrongists want to steal the thunder from the Jews in modern Israel in favor of the United States and Britain being punished for such sins as not keeping the Sabbath, not that any of the church of gods actually have much respect for it, since they find it more convenient to eat out in restaurants, a practice which would be resoundingly condemned by Ezra and Nehemiah, but approved by most of the major sects within Armstrongism.

The modern day Israelites are completely ignored as are the Arabs of the Islam world, which, if the Scripture is as it seems to be, will continue to attack Israel -- the real Middle East version, not the ersatz Western version. Scrapped Scripture paints a picture of gloom and doom for Israel, which is hard to miss unless one has misplaced their compass.

And so it is, that the natural disasters in the United States just happen to coincide with the U.S. participating in giving the land of Israel back to the Arabs. Hurricane Katrina started up just hours after the U.S. participated in the great give away of Israel to the Palestinians. The forest fires seemed to coincide with other such events.

All of that contributed to certain people going, "See! See! Anyone who meddles with Israel will be broken".

Unfortunately, this is fitting disasters to fit one's opinions after the fact. If only specifics could have been predicted with excruciatingly pinpoint accuracy before the events, so there could be absolutely no doubt.

Too bad.

The Universe is filled with coincidences. Isaac Asimov tells of the story of the day he was walking down a street in New York with his wife discussing a song popular in the 1920s. They went into a bookstore just then. And playing on a Victrola was the very song Dr. Asimov had been talking about.

Armstrongists would be inclined to say that it was either Divine Intervention or the work of Satan the Devil depending upon whether they were in manic mode or depressed.

The end of the world has been coming for quite some time. Anyone who has the audacity and pluck to investigate can get started at Apocalypse.

It wouldn't be so bad if Herbert Armstrong was right about even 80% of what he prophesied in Jesus' Name, but he was wrong 99% and in his lifetime 100% wrong. Those just aren't good statistics to take to the bank.

Tired Skeptic said...

It takes a great deal of effort for someone like this to establish coherent thoughts: Note the lack of cohesion in the above statement -- the sentence begins with "Apostle" and ends with "prophet" -- a tribute to the non sequitur.

To a rational person, this sentence makes no sentient sense, but the writer is just fine with it.

This is typical of someone who has insufficient connections across the corpus callosum.

It is an active demonstration of a brain divided against itself -- unstable in all its ways.

While I appreciate the sentiment...

Actually the symbolism would not have been symbolism.

While carrying the Big Ten, one of which prohibited murder/killing, Moses got ticked the people would have thought being gone 40 days in the wilderness might imply not coming home for dinner....ever.

Being somewhat annoyed over the Golden Calf (After all, it was the ending of the Age of Taurus the Bull and the Beginning of Arie the Lamb..which ol Abraham found in the bushes to save Isaac,) Moses had "every man slay his neighbor and in that day 3000 perished."

This breaking of the tablets hardly introduced the loving sane new Covenant to them and didn't show us anything in the future save Moses great example on how it really should be applied.

If anything, the Big Ten "symbolized" their impending death, and of course millions more down the road for not accepting the love of God ala the Church.

Imagine Moses saying, "Ok, now bury the bastards, I'll go get another copy and we'll go over them together.....#5, You shall not kill. Any questions"?

I'm fairly sure myself we are talking mythology here...whew!

If it is any comfort to you, lots of other people don't know it either.

>>>I do know that it's the most versatile book ever written. It can be used to support just about any position.<<<

"Versatile?" If you mean by versatile, that it covers a wide range of subjects, then, I agree with you. But if you are using the term "versatile" to mean that devious people often use the Scriptures to support the versatility of their malevolent opinions and practices, then, I disagree that it can be justly used for their purposes. In such cases, the versatility is not to be found in the bible, but in the deranged minds of those who so use it.

Now if you keep posting here, you will be exposed to some very useful ideas and concepts, but whether you learn anything from them will depend upon a number of factors, including not joining the cowards in hiding behind an alias.

MY COMMENT - Mel, although I agree with you completely and your assessment of Tom as being "a stupid asshole" is certainly right on target, we should clean up your statement in order to conform with Gavin's house rules.

Let's re-phrase your statement into a question: "Tom, did you know you are mentally deficient lacking any intelligence 3704559"?

See Wikapedia "Calculator spelling" for an interpretation of 3704559.

"Tom Mahon Watch"

Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

All the stupid stuff he comes up with is all designed to bait the posters here, nothing more. I've seen his ilk on several religious forums.

Don't think for a minute that he believes any of his drivel, he just wants attention and he's getting it here.

On forums, Tom's ilk usually get banned from posting but on a blog it's not that simple. Too bad really, because he is just goading people to post to him instead of talking about the subject. It would be best if everyone just ignored his posts, then he'd go away and go bother people somewhere else.

Sounds so much nicer!!

Having lived in California as an AC student, and having traveled around the state over the years, I can say that there are many areas in California that I quite like, especially San Francisco and surrounding communities; but I would much prefer the "overcast, grubby" industrial/post-industrial neighborhoods west of Birmingham (aka the Black Country). As I mentioned on some earlier post a few months ago, my wife is from the Black Country (Wednesbury, not very far from Tom's town of West Bromwich), and whenever the day comes when we can spend at leaat half of our time, if not the great majority, living in England, we hope to make residence in that "grubby" area. We already have a house in the cultural heart of the Black Country, the town of Netherton, which we currently rent out.

Grubby, overcast...well, yes. But I actually like lots of overcast weather, and prefer a cool climate to a very warm one. The folk of the Black Country are very salt-of-the-earth types, and besides, many of the best cask-conditioned ales in England are brewed and dispensed in that region. Given a choice between living in Bob Thiel's lovely area in the central coastal region of California, or a few doors up the street from Tom, I'd choose the latter, any day. But I would probably make an effort (no doubt a hopeless one) to get Tom to be more like his neighbors! Salt of the earth, you know!

This is actually the level of "evidence" that most people use to validate their own belief in God.

Me too! I want to move to the Northeast. I grew up in the Cotton South and despise heat. And rainy overcast weather never fails to put me into a good, imaginative mood.

I thought I was the only loon that didn't like sun. Too much information. I love cloudy, rain, wind, thunder and storms. Give me Upstate NY anyday where I must have gotten these comfort levels.

Stuck down in South Carolina! On top of that I am twelve feet from Bob Jones University. IF they find me, I"m done!

AC was never in it's most righteous primitive times as repressed, corny and strict as BJU is to this day. Oh the stories I could tell from my clients. This is a Bob Jones neighborhood with all the drama, weird religious zealots and conflicted souls who hope no one notices you could ever want to meet.

I had a BJU student approach me on main street and follow me asking me if I believed in the Lord's Supper. I told him I just ate but thanks! He said, "No, I mean the LORD'sSupper." I repeated what I said, thanked him and he just stared and stopped following me. It was great!

Dennis no doubt has heard former bju stories.

Read this little bit of Church of God, Cleveland, Tenn to see how the more things change, the more they stay the same. It will sound very familiar with just the names and places changing. Did you know the Bible predicted motorcycles? Read all about it.

Yep, that is true. The malfunction does not allow for the connection between the left and right cerebral hemispheres. Such as Tom is, this is his disability that will keep him from thinking in an cognitive matter. Pity him. Very sharp you are in noticing this!

Prim and Proper, Toms opinion about Herbert is just that...with a large "hope" factor that the apostate apostle of past was right in all his gloom and doom prophecies. This comforts and qualifies Tom. But the facts have Herbert in the hell equation, that is if you can document the Herbal doctrine that hell is the place of final judgment. Anyway, Herb won and we lost. Then there are those who continue to lose......

The loser invested in the Armstrong penny stock hoping to enrich themselves and ya know what, they lost! Such is Armstrongism. A losing proposition that you can seldom recover from. Just go back to work and start over hoping that you will smarter than the last time you were so gullible!

I find his use of the word "deranged" to be ironic.

Tom then went on to share an astounding bit of logic:

So somehow my choice to use an alias somehow interferes with my ability to learn, and defines me as a coward.

Tom, if you're a Christian, I'm extra glad that I'm not one.

I post on other forums, where, I must confess, most members stick to the topic. Whereas here, every topic eventually defaults to Armstrongism and the alleged, terrible legacy it has bequeathed to its former adherents.

When rational argument challenges this opinion, it is attacked by insults and abuse, and the threat of censorship. As though insults and abuse are capable of constructing a logical and coherent argument in defence of anything.

>>>Too bad really, because he is just goading people to post to him instead of talking about the subject.<<<

Go back and read my posts, they all address the topics; either by replying to Gavin's opening remarks or other people's comments on the topic. Sometimes I agree with what some people say and sometimes I disagree, by challenging their often misguided opinions or bold assertions, without being able to provide any proof in support of their contentions.

However, you don't have to read or reply to my posts. But the truth will always triumph over speculation, conjecture, supposition or opinion, for it is invincible!

Any suggestions as to how we can turn this situation around, and maybe get stuff flowing in a positive direction again?

Notwithstanding Byker Bob's last comment (who I respect), the dumb dumb said, "Whereas here, every topic eventually defaults to Armstrongism and the alleged, terrible legacy it has bequeathed to its former adherents".

MY COMMENT - If you read Gavin's header to the Ambassador Watch website it reads "Reflections on the Worldwide Church of God experience". Wouldn't that include our experiences and observations of the fraud Herbert W. Armstrong? Tom, your God idol certainly made some mighty big claims during his lifetime - most of which never came to pass in the timeframe he predicted.

Tom, what would you expect to be posted at a website that bills itself, "Reflections on the Worldwide Church of God experience", or are you really that mentally challenged in the brain department?

Why do I keep imagining Ron Weinland leading songs at Passover in Jerusalem singing...and saying...

Actually no Dennis: Members of Weinland's group will be required to sing In Thy Loving Kindness Lord or, if they don't know it, to "listen to the words and ponder their meaning".

So saith Rotten Ron's Passover Service Instructions (PDF file).

I hate to say this but even AW seems more and more like WCG ca. 1985 these days. Is it something in the water? Maybe all this end-time profit of god stuff has ripped a hole in the space-time continuum and we really are being sucked back into the bad old days!!

This is now the third CoG-related Internet site I have seen reference Charlton Heston dying. One of them my own and shall we say the comment in question definitely did not make the Weinlandwatch canon. I apologize.
That's all I can think of that I can do to make things better(although I see there's been a bit of a 'ripple effect", that increases my regret for writing and calling Tom a bad name).

I suppose there will be trolls trying to push buttons and I'd be better off(and this blog would be, too) if I wouldn't let them get to me.

That said, BB, I'll relate something you may find amusing:
I know of someone faking it in one of the "tongues" churches, and repeating "I got a Honda", as if speaking in tongues, and the other parishioners believed he'd been struck by Holy Spirit.

Amen brother! The solution is to go into moderation mode - at least temporarily. I tried to drop a hint with the "house rules" earlier this week... but...

And please, no whining, pouting, ranting, whinging, grizzling and groaning about "freedom of speech." That'll just bring down moderation all the quicker...

Those people can sure do the prophecy game!

I think of Tatoo on Fantasy Island exclaiming:

"The plane, the plane, it's prophecy fulfilled!"

"The car, the car, it's prophecy fulfilled!"

"The motorcycle, the motorcycle, it's prophecy fulfilled!"

And to quote the last sentence:
"We are a product of prophetic history and rejoice in this testimony (Revelation 19:10)."

Oi, vey! Funny too, is their claiming that all the changes in leadership(seems like a lot of in-fighting, to me) is all explained in terms of biblical prophecy.

There seem to be soooooo many "Brides of Christ"......
I hope Jesus wears jimmy-hats.

I would expect members to reflect on the totality of their experiences, both good and bad, and not just complaint that they were "mugged" every Sabbath day as they arrived for services. For if I kept going to the same place, where I was "mugged" every week, I would be ashamed to admit. Wouldn't you?

I see no need to address this topic, for I am sure that you have already decided whether HWA was or wasn't an apostle. However, when Paul's Apostleship was being questioned, he replied: "Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds." So use this template as the basis to judge whether HWA was or wasn't an apostle, and you will have your answer.

Did you really mean the Northeast, Paul, or the Pacific Northwest? I like 'em both, but the Pacific Northwest has a more equable climate, and of course if you find overcast, rainy weather stimulating (as I do), you can't beat Seattle, Portland, anywhere from the Cascades west during the winter months!

Of course, since Tom lives in overcast, showery England, it must be proof that that climate is the preferred one of God! :-)

Camfinch,

Yes, I meant the Northwest. I think the Northeast is a wee bit too cold for me. I would like to live where it snows a couple of times in the winter, but nothing major.

I'm here in NC, too. It's much better than the searing, humid hell of Louisiana, but the summers are still a bit too hot and the winters not cold enough for my tastes. I tell you what, the weather last week was wonderful, though. Chilly, dark, and rainy! Perfect!

The 'signs of an apost;e' were limited to the Twelve and Paul - unique representatives of Jesus who carried on his work, inpired by him. There were also 'apostles (messengers) of the churches' - men and women who maintained communications between the independent assemblies. There have been none of the former, since.

"...that you have swallowed the pseudo scientific, religious, theory of Global Warming,..."

It is interesting that people who have been through the HWA/WCOG experience would come out thinking like this.

On one hand we have decades of research and sound scientific evidence to support anthropogenic climate change. We have unanimous agreement among the thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies. In fact, this has probably been the most peer-reviewed scientific study in history.

On the other hand, we have a few fringe self-proclaimed teachers who want us to reject what the majority of experts say and accept their viewpoints even though their viewpoints don't stand up to peer-review. They appeal more to faith than the scientific evidence. They talk of conspiracy theories as to why their viewpoints aren't accepted.

This second group. the climate change deniers, seem more like a religion than the first group.
