Why did Gerry base his cult in Oklahoma?

Well, glory be, might it have something to do with this?

Home schooling is of course the answer to elevating the Oklahoma index... and an ideal preparation for Herbert W. Armstrong College.

Heck, you could watch the "Jaywalking" routine on the Jay Leno Show, and probably ask why Armstrongism was based in the USA!

Still, I've often wondered what was so attractive to Flurry about Oklahoma. Back in the early '60s the Flurry family lived in the St. Louis Mo. area. But, you'd have to ask yourself whether a member donated the PCG's Oklahoma property, or perhaps wonder whether a few key regulations there were particularly lax, or could there possibly be some prophetic imaginations involved. Maybe Flurry's largest group of followers were there.

I believe that the Armstrongs had their interests in Baja Oklahoma (Texas) simply because the Hammer family had donated a huge amount of acreage to the Radio Church of God.

Glory be,Hallelujah bros, and a happy Feast of Trumpets to you all.

The collective IQ in Oklahoma was raised when Gerry set up base there.

With the low scholastic attainment in Oklahoma,Herbert W Armstrong College might be welcomed with open arms.

Gerry will doubtless be putting the finishing touches to his seasonal " we need more dollars" sermon.

Cheers,

Flurry is in Oklahoma because that is where he was a pastor when he left the WCG back in the early 1990s (I think the exact year was 1992 but I can't be certain).

He took part of the local congregation with him when he left. Eventually he gained critical mass in the Norman/Oklahoma City area because of this, and moving his HQ would threaten the stability of his organization.

Not quite sure how to share this with you guys, but the question in the title (and the answer below it) was meant to be a bit facetious.

Mr. Flurry might tell you the hand of God led him to be where he was.

Old issues of the Philadelphia Trumpet noted the name Edmond means "Protector of wealth." And that's what PCG is doing -- protecting the wealth of HWA knowledge.

(Of course, some might accuse him of trying to protect a different sort of wealth....)

I love it !!!

And while Gavin said he was being a bit facetious with the title question and answer, it would be no surprise to me to find out that the low educational level, while not the original motivation for locating there, would be relished as an added "blessing".

That's funny!!!

People in California are already dividing California up between Alta California and Norte California. The southern portion being so much more conservative than its San Fransico/Sacramento counter-part.

Mexico thinks all three (Baja, Alta, Norte) Californias rightfully belong to it! They teach Mexican kids that Gringos stole it!

The highly educated Christians of Oklahoma know a lot about Jesus, too!
And if you don't agree, your life must totally suck! LOL!
